These days there are a lot of restrictions on who you can be. We all have to make money and, supposedly, find the highest paying job possible so we can live the way we desire. The world we live in depends on money, and let's be honest, it doesn't ultimately matter how you make it. We all just have to have it in order to live. But, is that truly living? No one is able to do what they really want to anymore because it doesn't pay them enough or their job has been taken over. It's something that we need to look at and encourage our generation to get a job they appreciate. Something that they can poor their heart out doing, and where they can be themselves rather than something they're not. We need to push kids to follow their dreams rather than the dollar sign.
I realize that things have changed and the dollar goes further than it used to. But, shouldn't we all want to have a job that we enjoy? Something that we work hard for something that means the world to us as well as someone else.
All I keep hearing as a college student is that I need a major to get a job that makes money. It puts me in a place where I feel as though I may not make it if go into something I'm passionate about. That saddens me, and I feel strong and passionate enough to where I know that I can make my dream come true. I feel as though I can because I am passionate about pursuing it.
When we ask a 6-year-old what they want to be when they grow up, and they say something out of this world, we kind of shake our heads and smile don't we? Because, we know that out in the real world it may not happen. Granted, I wanted to be the Unicorn Princess when I was little but you get the point.
We all need to encourage kids and teenagers to pursue their dreams. For all we know they can change a lot with something simple, all because they were dedicated and passionate about what they're doing. If we all go do something that we are passionate about then this would be a happier place.
I want to be an author one day, and I know that I am capable of achieving it even though it doesn't pay much in the beginning. It's something that makes me happy, and maybe one day will make other people happy too.
Is there something that you're passionate about, but scared you won't make it? Don't be scared, I know it's tough but the reward in the end is so worth it. It may change someone else's life as much as it changed yours. Don't be scared to do something you're passionate about. I guarantee you it will give you a much bigger reward than money could ever provide.
