We can be so judgmental sometimes and we don't know what can cause it. We talk like we are superior, hiding our mistakes. Murmuring, talking about others to hide out from our insecurities. This generation of pointing fingers and shunning misfits, weird ones, the different ones. It aches me when I see this world full of regulations and standards. I ask myself, who are the people up there doing the judging? The ones in high society? Media? Trends? Or is it just us? "You can't dress like that" "You should be like this."
We blame all on them but we need to blame ourselves. We are the ones who follow "them." Checking what's in to fit in. If you don't make the regulations then you are "uncool." The saddest part is that it doesn't end there - other patterns follow. How different the world would be if we encouraged diversity and uniqueness. You can be a misfit and still be "cool", you can follow trends and be "cool." The problem is when we don't coexist and judge others instead.
We start pointing fingers, making fun of people just because they are different from us. That's when we start to feel bad about ourselves, thinking that there's something wrong with us, it is when self-esteem issues and suicidal thoughts linger. Because we can't be like them. But...be like who? Who is "them"? The people we perceive to be so called "perfect"? Little do we know that "they" want to be like others... the chain goes on and on and the issues go far beyond that.
I don't have a problem with similarity, I have it when it has to be a requirement. We can't set everyone with the same regulations or abilities. Some people have what others don't and what the others don't some people have. We complement each other life is not a competition. We should help each other rise not tear down. I believe that each of us have something or can do something that no other can do in the universe.
I always encourage uniqueness. I think it's so special. We can be ourselves, I am a firm believer that we realize our uniqueness, our special traits through a painful process but once we get to that realization, there isn't anything that can stop us. The beauty about all of it is that when we realize it we build encouraging platforms. We help others that are like once we were. I just wish people stop only caring for themselves and leave the competition behind. It's not always have to be about us. To understand their value and their only identity, to understand their truly potential, their purpose. Be the mirror of those who can't even look at themselves and help them understand and love who they are. Love, learn, teach, and empower. How amazing would that be?
