Here’s the scenario: You’re at a fun party on a Saturday night. You’re tearin’ up the dance floor with your girlfriends when suddenly an unknown guy slips his hands around your waist and pulls you towards him.
Listen up guys. There is nothing sexy or smooth about this move. Trust me, we’ll let you know if we want you to touch us. But most of the time, we won't want you to because your sleazy moves give us the creeps.
For some reason, at parties, all the polite charm Southern men are accredited with disappears. They become drunk, sloppy animals who think it is okay to rub their sweaty bodies up against a girl before they even know her first name. It’s time for this to change. I don’t believe chivalry is dead and neither should you.
When girls exchange stories from the previous night in the Pit I want to hear about “that guy”. Not the guy who scoops a girl’s a** as she’s walking up to the bar. That has and never will be socially acceptable.
Instead, I want to hear more stories about “that guy”. The guy who offers to get a girl a drink, and doesn’t add anything to it. Who asked her to dance but instead of pressing her against his sweaty body, twirls her around the dance floor. Try to recreate a scene out of Dirty Dancing. We’ll understand if you’re not the best dancer. But, if you do have the moves of Patrick Swayze by all means lift me in the air (that’s always sexy). Trust me, this will make a much better impression on a girl than a sloppy, off-balanced hump fest.
This is just a simple reminder to men to respect women, especially, in situations where their judgment may be impaired. Guys often forget that they are not entitled to a girl’s attention, affection or love. Yet, in social situations, some think they can put their hands all over us without our consent. This is not okay. Girls are one of the many treasures of this world and we deserve to be treated like it. Somehow, this basic concept has been lost in this day and age.
As Queen said, “girls, you make the rockin’ world go round”. Whether she’s thin or fat-bottomed, blonde or brunette, she’s still a human being. Girls are more than a walking pair of tits and a**. So be the guy who can see past her looks and compliment her personality. Take her on a date instead of taking her back to your room. Be the guy with a reputation for treating women well, instead of being known as rapey-something. Be a guy you can be proud of. It’ll workout better for you, and everyone else, in the long run.
