I've been extremely disappointed with many people lately on social media who think it is socially acceptable to basically skip Thanksgiving and go straight to celebrating Christmas the day after Halloween. Let me tell you all that November first does not indicate Christmas, December first does. I'm sick and tired of people acting like Thanksgiving isn't one of the most blessed days of the year. I look forward to it all year, and all I can think about when November hits is how many plates of mashed potatoes I'm going to consume on that Thursday. You all better stop forgetting one of the best holidays out there, Thanksgiving. Here are a few reasons why people should be more excited to celebrate Thanksgiving.
1. You get to see all of your family members.
Nothing like getting all of your family together to dine and then nap together. You are all there for the same reason and you know the deal as soon as you make eye contact with your favorite cousin. It's about to go down on the dinner table.
2. You eat as much as you want and no one has anything to say about it.
No one has the nerve to tell you stop eating. Whether it may be that Thanksgiving is the least judgmental day of the year, or no one wants to take home leftovers, there will be no comments made about weight or appetite except when your grandma asks if you want more.
3. The nap after lunch/dinner is the best nap of the year.
Once that food coma hits everyone the whole house goes silent except for the little ones who haven't learned the real value of a good nap in the middle of the day/night. Just wait little ones, you will understand the true blessing of a nap when you're older.
These are just three reasons why everyone should stop acting like Thanksgiving isn't one of the best things that happens to each and every one of us each year. Stop playing everyone. If you guys don't appreciate Thanksgiving, I'll be sure to show up to your houses on that Thursday and take your plate of food for myself. #MakeThanksgivingGreatAgain.
