Donald Trump presents new ideas to ensure safety in America after the Paris attacks, during an interview on Nov. 19, showing how ignorant he is towards the Islamic religion.
In an interview with Yahoo, Trump explains that America needs to keep a close eye on Muslims into order to begin better security. His offensive comments continue to show how his ignorance has not changed since earlier in the year.
During his interview, when asked about his response to the Paris attacks, Trump said he wants to keep an eye on Mosques.
“We are going to have to look at things very closely. We are going to have to look at Mosques. We are going to have to look very, very carefully,” Trump told reporters at Yahoo.
Trump begins to say that America is going to have to start doing things that would have seemed ridiculous a year ago.
Additionally, he said that security is going to rule.
“Some people are going to be upset, but I think everyone is feeling that security is going to rule,” Trump said.
In addition to his comments on security, Trump gave his opinion on Syrian refugees in America.
“They’re going to be gone…they are going back,” Trump said.
To back up his opinion, Trump states that the majority of refugees are young strong men. Trump does not want to take a chance that they are affiliated with ISIS.
In response to these comments, Yahoo informs Trump that half of the 2,000 refugees who have come from Syria to America so far, have been children, while about a quarter or more have been above 60 years old, Yahoo reporters said.
Trump however does not believe the facts presented to him.
Even if Trump is correct when discussing Syrian Refugees, his reasoning is absurd
It is true that some of the Muslim immigrants have affiliated themselves with ISIS or ISIL. However, that does justify his implied opinion that all Muslims are evil.
According to the U.S. Census, the United States admits about 100,000 Muslims into the United States, legally, per year.
This is the fastest growing population of immigrants in the country, according to Julia Hahn, a writer for Breitbart.com.
While I agree, the United States may need to increase security in the country, increasing the security around Mosques is a little far. The United States is able to do background checks to find those who are of potential harm.
When discussing his security idea, the key word Trump uses is, “Mosque.” This word signifies he is stereotyping a religion.
To characterize all Muslims in the United Sates as terrorists or a threat is ludicrous.
Stereotyping Islams as the cause of all the terrorism in Paris would be signifying that all Christians are evil because the Ku Klux Klan is a Christian group.
Simply being Muslim does equate to terrorist. If this were true then the majority of the legal Muslim immigrants would have possibly already caused harm.
The most interesting point in Trump's argument, is that he openly assumes Muslims are a threat, now that the Paris attacks have happened. Muslims have been immigrants in America for years, and to suggest that they all suddenly became evil, on Nov. 13, makes no sense. An attack form ISIS does not mean that the Islamic community in America has always been supporting ISIS and their endeavors.
For the past few months Trump has said racist and offensive comments that make him sound like the most ignorant man you could talk to.
His comments, such as calling Mexican’s across the border rapists and other criminals, make me question his sanity and how he could possibly be allowed to speak in public.
Trump has no right to blame the whole Islamic religion, only the people who cause the harm.
