As a loose follower of politics, the recent downpour of media coverage of the Republican presidential bid of Donald Trump has not missed me. Like everyone else who still watches TV (cause I'm sure the internet is about two months from killing that) I no doubt find infinite humor in Trump. But his run for president should be just that: a joke. Yet he's currently leading in Republican polls beating out Jeb Bush - by five points! What could Americans possibly see through their television screens that could possibly appeal to them so much? Well in order to satisfy my curiosity on the subject, this writer did some research on the topic.
His Larger Than Life Ego:
Ever the entertainer (since Apprentice days), Mr. Trump has had this way about him that makes the general public believe every outrageous thing he says. Between the outrageous claims he has like: putting a wall between America and Mexico, or ripping up the Iran deal right in their delegates faces, there's just something that makes Republican America want to believe him. Not to mention that apparently he's also Batman.
His Unapologetic Ways:
Seems everyday Trump's opponents find new ways to shove his foot in to his own big mouth. Yet he takes all backlash of his comments with fitting grace. Take when South Carolina's Senator Lindsey Graham called Mr. Trump a "jackass" after Trump made it known that he did not believe Senator John McCain was a war hero. At a GOP meeting in Iowa he said: "He is a war hero because he was captured," Trump added. "I like people that weren't captured, OK? I hate to tell you."
Seems like a a slip of the tongue, right? Maybe Trump should back off from a well known Veteran of the United States and apologize, that'd be the decent regular course of action.
No no, not our Mr.Trump.
Instead of bowing out gracefully and going in time out to think about what he's down, Trump instead lashed out at Senator Graham for calling him a jackass by giving out his personal cell phone number over at Sun City in South Carolina. Trump's a candidate that won't take no mouth. Screw facts they don't matter he's above them!
Awesome, Realistic, Policies That'll Definitely Work:
You can't say the Conservative Mr. Trump doesn't have a plan about how to run this country. When the press finally gets him down for interviews he gives out his policies evenly and calmly. The man with the plan. Here are few of his key stances:
- Illegal Immigration - No one despises Illegal Immigration more than Trump. Upon kicking off his campaign saying ""people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." A strong stance. His solution to the problem? Build a wall between us and Mexico. Oh and to end birthright citizenship which is given to us by the 14th amendment of the Constitution.
- The Iran Deal - Trump has flat out said that he is horrified by what he read in the Iran deal. He proposed to rip the deal up flat out in a recent interview with NBC. After conceding that he would have to accept the deal he was asked what he would do to make sure Iran wouldn't cheat there way out of the deal. He responded that he would do what he does best in the business world and police the contract stating: "I would be so tough on that contract".
- Health Care - Forget Obama care "it's gotta go". In his interview with CNN Trumps plan for healthcare if(when) he's elected president he'd repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with an expansive marketplace for private insurance policies. Trumps confident on the matter, assuring that he can "“work out some sort of a really smart deal with hospitals across the country” to even accommodate those who can't afford healthcare.

It seems that Donald Trump is the perfect remedy for summertime flatness. But hopefully, eventually, people will move on to the real issues and cease the Trump coverage.
