There are certain things in life that last forever. There’s love, music, and literature. The best part about these everlasting things is that you can make them for yourself. You can make your own love, compose your own song, and write your own book. Each of these things is art, and helps to bring the world together. People are born great in their own respects, and can bring greatness to what they're good at. For me, writing has always been around, and it’s one of the most important lasting things.

Ironically enough, I don’t really read. I haven’t read all of the "Harry Potter" books (I know, sue me), but I do love writing. It’s a form of expression, one that helps show a person's true colors, permeating the page with their emotions, and one that people just use to mask how their emotions. I’m guilty of doing both.

There are days where my heart can pour out like a filled sink, and days where I like to keep it hidden away. Though, when I do write how I feel, I find some form of clarity that I don't find when I keep feelings bottled up. Just like with music, I guess it just depends on the mood you’re in.

While I’m good at writing, I’m not very good at other things. That’s the beauty of life, the idiosyncrasies that come with living. While I can write, I’m absolutely terrible at drawing. One of my friends from high school is stellar at drawing and painting and ended up going to art school to do what she loves. It’s beautiful, the simple joy of doing what you love, even if you’re reserved about it at times.

There will always be things you're good at as well as things you're bad at, no matter how you try. It’s just a part of life. I feel like if I were good at everything, then I’d just live on my couch, because there would be no risk or reward for anything. Though it does get hard sometimes. Life gets hard. It took me forever to figure out what I was good at. I’m sure it’s the same for others.

If you’re good at something and it brings you joy, then chase it. Chase it with absolute determination. Live in every moment you can, and enjoy. In the end, what makes you the happiest is going to stick with you for the rest of your life. There’s the saying that, if you love what you do, then you won’t work a day in your life.

While there’s going to be other people that do things the same as you, either better or worse, there’s nobody else who can do it quite like you. Writing is important to me, but I know there are many out there who feel the same. They are those who are better, and hopefully, those who are worse than I am, but ultimately, that doesn’t change anything. No matter where exactly I stand, I know that I’m special, and you should know that too, even if, in the end, I’m just another boy with low self-esteem.

There are so many things that could happen in our universe, so always expect something good, even if you might have to wait a little. I mean, Rome wasn’t built in a day, remember?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
