It is that time of year again. The semester is coming to a close and it seems like all the stress in the world is upon you. The projects, readings and all the essays pile up on each other and all have the same due date it, seems like. Students everywhere consider the option of dropping out, thinking these tasks are all too much. But it will work out. These assignments are not the end of the world, and these final exams will not determine who you are for the rest of your life, I promise. So take some advice from these dogs on how to make it through finals alive and well. Also, good luck!
1. Stay calm.
As everyone knows, finals week can be a very stressful time in every college student’s life. You have six tests in two to three days over three months of information and it can be overwhelming. But remember staying calm is key. Do not let anxiety ruin a test and run your life amuck. Try breathing exercises, or just sit in a quiet place for a few minutes.
2. Sleep.
Studying is only good if you’re semi-rested. I won’t say well rested because we all know that’s a joke in college. Try to get a good four hours a night. It will make a difference. If you can’t sleep at night, try and get some naps in there.
3. Caffeine is your friend.
We all know that coffee has kept us going all semester, and now is the time you start asking for extra shots of espresso. Caffeine is oh-so important in a tired, stressed, college students life. So go and get the venti and get double extra espresso. Get your heart racing and study your butt off.
4. Take a break.
Find time between tests and studying just to relax. Hammock, hang out with some friends, take a hike, or just read a book. Take time to think about something other than your grades. It will actually make you feel better about life in the long run.
5. Be sure to eat.
Eat! Eat! Eat! Do not forget to eat, or just eat those three month old Cheetos that are laying under your bed. You need something semi nutritious. Order a pizza, or eat the rest of your ramen so you won’t need to pack it up. But be sure to keep yourself well fed, even if it means walking to the cafeteria.
6. Shower.
Showering is an important part of daily life, and overall it just makes you feel better. Nothing is worse than feeling gross and nasty. So take a study break and give your nose a break and shower.
6. Don’t forget to enjoy this time.
College doesn’t last forever and that’s a sad truth. Finals are stressful now, but you will miss this time once you graduate and move into an adult job. So take time to enjoy this moment in your life and embrace this last week.
