Dogs are commonly known as man's best friend. I am here to say they are much, much more than that. They are the furry shoulder to cry on, the best cuddle buddy and your most honest companion. Dogs, like humans, come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They are unique and no two dogs will ever be alike. Dogs lack some of the brain power human have; however, I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. I think their lesser intelligence helps them be better than we are. Here are the reasons why:
1. They love you unconditionally.
Has your dog ever told you he only likes you a little bit? Or that she isn't really that into you? I didn't think so. Dogs love people more than they love themselves. Sadly, we can't say the same about humans. Humans are selfish by nature and dogs are loving by nature. What could we have done to deserve such great creatures? Obviously, something very good.
2. They're a part of your life, and you are their life.
A dog is just a part of your very big life. You have a job, family, social life and love life. Your dog just has you. You are it. There is nothing else, except food and walks. But for the most part, you are the most important part of your dog's life. My advice? Don't disappoint them.
3. They're adorable.
I think this is a pretty obvious statement. Dogs are the cutest bundles of joy that have ever graced this earth. They are fluffy, small, big, scruffy, spotted, black, white, golden and much more. Even though every dog looks different, they all manage to look extremely adorable. What is not to love?
4. You'll never be lonely.
Living alone can be terrifying. Coming home to a dark empty house or apartment is not appealing. But coming home to a big fluffball of joy is the exact opposite. You are greeted with love and joy every time you walk through the door. You can sleep soundly at night knowing you have a guard dog at the foot of your bed watching out for all that bumps in the night. When you wake up, the first sight you will see is a face that loves you more than anything in the whole wide world.
5. You will be happier.
Having a dog improves your quality of life. You learn so many lessons from this little angel in your life. You learn how to love without expecting anything back. You see that life doesn't always have to be so serious. It's OK to be silly and fun! Your dog sets a good example on how you should live life. You can learn how to naviagte this journey we call life.
