Getting a dog is a big decision. It includes weighing the pros and cons of owning, taking care of, and being responsible for something other than yourself. Essentially, your dog can be equal to your baby. In my case, my dog is my best friend. Here's why:
1. She listens when I talk.
Unlike human best friends, my dog doesn't always have to put her opinions into the mix. She is also the best at keeping secrets. Anything I tell her, I know will remain between the two of us.
2. Dogs do not judge.
She listens attentively to my problems without being judgmental and I love her for it.
3. She loves cuddling.
Whenever I lay down to chill out or sleep, she always lays down and cuddles with me for extra warmth.
4. She loves having company over.
No matter who it is, once she hears the door open, she get so excited and playful that she just cannot sit still.
5. She doesn't hate my cooking.
I admit, I am pretty much the worst cook ever but she doesn't seem to mind. Whatever I throw her way, she eagerly consumes at a rapid pace and cleans up the crumbs.
6. My dog loves naps as much as I do.
Naps are the best. After a long day of school or work, I love coming home, putting on sweats, and jumping into my comfy bed. As soon as she knows it's nap time, my dog climbs under the covers with and naps too.
7. She makes me feel better when I am sick.
No she doesn't make me chicken noodle soup like mama always did, but she does give me all her love and attention when she knows I am not feeling my best.
8. Dogs are great cleaners.
Whether it's spilled milk or a whole chicken finger dropped on the floor, my dog always cleans it up.
9. She is a fantastic alarm system.
No matter what time of day it is, I can always count on my dog to alert me to anyone entering or exiting the house or yard.
10. My dog keeps me in shape.
Walks around the neighborhood, runs at the local hiking trail, and chasing after her day and night make for the perfect workout for my lazy self.
11. She welcomes me home with kisses.
I don't think anyone is excited about me coming home than she is. Whenever she sees me walk through the door, she gets so excited and begins jumping around. And as soon as I grab her and pick her up, the kisses start coming.
12. My dog is proud of me and is there for me no matter what.
People might come and go but having a dog is the most loyal and affectionate kind of love. She doesn't care if I got an F on my chemistry test or if I lost my job. She loves me even with all my flaws and downfalls, which is exactly why she is my best friend and I love her with all my heart.
