I Want to Lose Track of Time: Here's Why

Time is important, I know. It's how we go about planning anything and everything throughout our day. But that's not what I'm here to talk about. That's boring. Time is time. But, losing track of it? Now that's something worthy of discussion. Shit goes down in the timeless zone. All the fun happens there. And because of that, I consider timeless time, and losing track of time, to be just as important (if not more) as time itself. Stay with me on this one.

Nowadays, all we seem to do is multi-task. We watch TV while we scroll through our Twitter feeds, have conversations with people while looking down at our phones, and claim that we want to "live in the moment" while pressing down the record button. Humans that give people, places, and things their undivided attention are a dying species. We try to focus on too many things at once and it leads us not to be wholeheartedly in the present, which makes it more difficult to enjoy. But if we take our mind off of the time and stop worrying about losing it, we can grab hold of it.

Taking into consideration the amount of distractions there are in the world, and how we make things out to be more important than they actually are (for example, social media), it can be difficult to forget to forget about them. But when we care enough to get lost in ourselves or others and lose track of time, they are so easily forgotten—it’s like they were never there. The clock on your wall, the watch on your wrist, and the digital time on your cell phone vanish. Those numbers we pay attention to all day, every day—disappear. Isn’t it extraordinary how something our day revolves around doesn’t exist unless we acknowledge it? Only when we are completely devoted to the full extent and lost in focus, will we lose track of the time. And that's why it's important—because that's how we know it means something.

Losing track of time is the most sincere and passionate proclamation of happiness. It is a time where you are consumed by something you want to be consumed by. You breathe through your mind, give all the attention in the world to the love in your heart, and fully engage with your soul. The atmosphere you're in at that moment exists with no beginning or end. The time you're lost in exhibits a beautiful awareness of the truth, and helps you understand something crucial to your happiness—that all the time you’ll ever have is the time you have right now.

In lost time, we find our true identity and reveal the things that are truly important in life, and to us. Lost time holds our deepest passions and knows what makes us happy. Doing the things you love, knowing what brings you joy, and following your heart and greatest passions are important to one's happiness and sense of purpose.

Living the moment is important. Doing what you love is important. Being with the people you love is important. Your happiness is important. Your purpose is important. And so, going to the place where you're aware of all of that, and living like that, is important, too. Losing track of time is important, because living your life to the fullest and being happy is important.

I know time is precious and that what is lost can never be gained back, but if I could, I would lose track of it all. Because then I would know I spent it wisely.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
