There is nothing like the feeling of being surrounded by love

Every family member gathering together to celebrate and to eat

If there is one thing I am certain about,

It is this, there will be kids running around and adults playing cards around a table

Mothers and grandmothers working in the kitchen

Sending sweet aromas throughout the whole house

Inviting kids to the kitchen to try and sneak a piece

As the door opens everyone yells hey, Happy Thanksgiving

Children run from their parents to their cousins to catch up on the latest

While the “old timers” reminisce, and tell stories about them glory days

You might find some of the men encompassing the TV watching the football game

The teenagers go upstairs to a room to discuss the life and laugh

As time goes by everyone begins to wonder when is the food done

Everyone goes to Granny Kim and ask “Is the food done yet?”

She says not yet

Everyone goes back to their places

Talk about is their banana pudding, cakes or pies being made

Everyone wanting their plate with nothing missing

Another hour or two flies by and the food is done

The family gathers and Grate Granny looks for that one

That one to say the prayer over the food

No one wants to get picked but everyone is ready to eat

As the prayer is said

Cousins begin to lift their heads in dread

Finally it is done and everyone prepares to eat

Of course kids get their plates first

And there’s always that one aunt or mother who has to serve the food.

Thank you mom, haha

the adults get served last and everyone is quiet

the only noise that one hears is the scraping sound of forks hitting plates

everyone gives thanks for the food and for their lives

once the food is served

everyone wants to know what’s for dessert.

Dessert is like the icing on the cake

It’s the best and its worth the wait

Besides the food the thing that makes Thanksgiving such a great holiday

Is because it is one of the few days everyone is together laughing, playing and reminiscing.
