Do you really want a Zona Zoo pass?

While a Zoo pass seems like a good idea, it is a big financial commitment for a lot of students.

Do you really want a Zona Zoo pass?

With August finally here that means it is only a matter of time before school kicks back up for Arizona students. For a lot of students, that means only a few weeks before our Saturdays are spent supporting the football team.

While there are many great Arizona sports teams, the bread and butter of the Zona Zoo are the football and basketball teams. For many Arizona students, this is the point of the summer where they debate if its worth shelling out $175 for a Zona Zoo pass. For those that are really into the games, you probably will not ponder the thought of getting a Zoo pass because it is a given. If you are getting a Zoo pass, that is fantastic, but do not shell out that money if you will not attend many games.

Odds are, if you are asking yourself if you want a Zoo pass, the answer is a simple no. I have encountered a lot of my friends telling me that they bought a Zoo pass their freshmen year and went to few games. If you are not into sports, it might not be a great investment of $175 because you might feel obligated. And attending games are not nearly as fun if you are only going because of your pass. Yes it is great to hang out with your friends, but that $175 could have went towards something else. Maybe you could buy new shoes, or finance a trip to Las Vegas instead of a Zoo pass.

One thing that is for certain is a need to check the schedule too before buying a pass. Arizona plays Arizona State at home the day after Thanksgiving so it is unlikely you will attend if you are from out of state. There is also the annual homecoming game so if your parents come down to Tucson, you will likely watch that game with them instead of at the Zoo. Arizona also has many early afternoon games in the good ole Tucson sun so you cannot go too hard on Friday nights. If you are a trooper that is fine, but these are things to consider before buying a pass.

If you want to support Arizona, but are not sure if you are going to a game, there is always a spot on University for you to take in the game with your friends. As a die-hard Arizona fan, I would love for everyone to attend the games but maybe it is not for you. Also, if you want to take in a game or two, just buy a ticket and make your way over to the student section to enjoy the fun. I reccomend giving the games a test run before you make such a big financial commitment.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
