Do We Create It?

We are all a form of the Green-Eyed Monster, we have just yet to see it.

Do We Create It?

Trying to understand the concept of jealousy is like trying to figure out the reason of Man's existence- it is a never ending loop of questions that lead to answers that lead to more questions and so on. We can claim that we do not get possessed by the savage little beast we know as the Green-Eyed Monster, but in reality, he exists within us all, whether we are aware of it or not.

We are a possessive species, obsessing over one thing we may not have,

and if we do, we only make it a priority in our daily life until something new comes along and we just have to catch up with the rest of society. We do not realize that the driving force of our desire for change and maintenance is due to the jealousy that lives within Man.

There are certain things we have that others do not have-

food

shelter

water;

There are certain things others have that we do not have-

money

power

priority;

and with each of these things, jealousy is hiding, waiting for its opportunity to shine in the lime-light that we create for it.

The funny thing is, when we do not have what we want to have, we talk down to those who possess what we want. We do not even stop to think that they worked hard to get where they are at, although some may just inherit all that they own. Regardless of the situation, we have the choice to make the best or worst out of every situation, but because of that spite that devours every last bit of happiness we are able to share with someone, we choose to show hate to those who are able to have more than us, although what we have is more than others can say they own.

This monster lives within us all, whether we pay attention to it or not. It lurks in the shadows of our soul, awaiting its time to shine in the light of our ego and devilish ways.

We are no more than this Monster, for we are the Monster itself.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
