Perform A Random Act Of Kindness

Perform A Random Act Of Kindness

Everybody has seen on the news the stories about how one person paid for the order of the car behind them at Starbucks or McDonald's and that started a chain reaction of kindness. People would come up to the window ready to pay and get the incredible surprise that it has already been paid for and pay it forward by paying for the next person's order. Little things like that make people go from having a really bad day to a great day.

When you take part in a random act of kindness not only does it make that person feel good or better, it also allows you to have the satisfaction of knowing you helped make someone's day a little brighter. I have a challenge for each one of you that is reading this, sometime this week perform a random act of kindness, do it for a friend or do it for a complete stranger. You will enjoy the results of having done the random act. I have compiled a list of some ideas to help get your brain generating ideas as well, or use one from the list!

1. Write inspiring quotes and post them in a few of the busy spots on campus; people will stop and smile as they read it.

2. Thank the bus driver when you get dropped off, they don't get enough appreciation.

3. Put enough money on the washer to do a load of laundry for the next person.

4. Smile at everybody you make eye contact with. It might seem like something so small and not meaningful, but I guarantee you that it brings a smile to the other person's face.

5. Buy 10-20 little pieces of candy and attach a post-it note with a smiley face drawn on it and give it to anybody that looks like they could use a smile.

6. Buy a small gift for someone you appreciate and care for.

7. Buy someone their favorite coffee and surprise them with it.

8. Let the person behind you at Walmart go in front of you at the check out line.

9. Hold the elevator/door for people you see coming.

10. Leave the server a decent tip (as much as you can afford).

Here are just 10 ideas, the list could go on and on! Get creative or use one of these, either way that person you do the random act of kindness for will enjoy it very much.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
