If there would be one thought that comes across every mind, it would be a comparison. Absolutely any comparison. We compare days, places, people and most importantly ourselves. Easy truth to tell, right ? But we don't tell truth to ourselves at all.
How many times have you tried to admit that you are working out just to look as good as that girl/boy that everyone around you admires? No, you don't even admit it. You say you are doing it just to stay healthy, you say you just don't want to get fat. But why are you so afraid of getting even a little bit chubby? Because you think it will be a disaster if you will get fat and you will expect everyone to point at you. Why? Because they have something to compare. And yes people will compare, they do it as much as you do. And you just draw a huge comparison between yourself and another person.
How many times you thought about choosing an occupation just because your parents told you: "Look he is studying global politics, he must be so smart, I wish you could have done the same". And then you are going to take extra classes, convincing yourself that you really like subjects you have never heard of until three days ago. It is because you started to draw one more strong comparison between you and that guy, who is respected by your parents.
Simple things like home cooked meal from the parent of your friend can make you compare your family to your friend's family. If you have never had family dinner because your parents were coming home late, or because you were living alone while they were working in another city, the moment you walk in into another house and see happy family smiling and making jokes between themselves, you will draw a web of comparisons automatically. Even if you don't want to, even if you fight it and try to convince yourself that everyone has different stories, circumstances, and lives. You will compare everything.
But I must tell you. You don't have to. You don't need to be a copy of someone else. Otherwise, the world wouldn't be so special with its human beings around the globe, as different as we can be.
Please don't make yourself a copy of someone else, because it depends on you and your ability to love yourself. You don't have te repeat everything your comparison subject is doing. Find something different, but something you like. If you are forcing yourself to workout when you don't want to, try doing something else like running, dancing, doing yoga. If you compare your family with other's, don't try to blame your parent and request family dinner every day from them. Find another way. You will still be comparing everything but find a way of comparing without jealousy.
It is okay. Everything will be okay. Don't worry.
