'Tis the season for gift giving! Do you need a gift for a Secret Santa, co-workers, or a group of friends? In the spirit of the holiday season, I have provided some budget friendly and easy-to-make gifts that everyone will love.

1. Customized Mug

This gift is super easy to make and costs practically nothing. I bought the mug for less than a dollar at my local thrift store and I took paint markers (better than Sharpies) and drew on the design. Once completed, I put the mug in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. This helps the ink stay on the mug when it is washed.

Total cost: $1

2. No-Sew Blanket

No-sew blankets are my favorite because they are easy to make, require no sewing talent, and you can have so much fun with mixing and matching fabrics and designs. This DIY was a little costly because I bought fabric at JoAnn's Fabrics, but you can make this for super cheap by buying blankets from your local thrift store (don't forget to wash them!)

Total cost: less than $20

3. Spa in a Jar

This gift is perfect for a Secret Santa gift or a stocking stuffer! I bought the mason jar from a craft store and filled it with nail polish, fuzzy socks, nail file, cotton balls, and all of the stuff you need to have a mini-spa session. All of the products were purchased at a dollar store or from Target.

Total Cost: $10

4. Hot Chocolate Ornament

This is the perfect gift to show appreciation to your co-workers, teachers, or a group of friends. To make this, just take a packet of hot chocolate mix and pour it into an ornament. Top it off with sprinkles and marshmallows and you're done! When they want to make hot chocolate all they have to do is take off the top and pour it into a mug.

Total cost: less than $5 each

5. Pedicure Pails

This is another great gift for co-workers. I found these cute pails from the dollar spot at Target and filled it with fuzzy socks, nail polish, and a pedicure set that I found at the dollar store. I added cute gift tags that I also found at the dollar spot at Target and wrote: "A little something for your mistletoes"...Get it?

Total cost: $4

6. Personalized Picture Frame

This gift is super easy to make. Just take a picture frame and glam it up! For the one pictured above I just glued on letters that spelled "Roomie" as a gift for my roommate.

Total cost: $2

You can find most of the supplies used for these gifts from Michael's, Target, and The Dollar Tree. I hope these ideas helped spark some inspiration for your holiday gifts!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
