``Battle of the minds, you versus the world.``
``Battle Royale`` is probably one of the most thrilling concepts of gaming world out there. Although the idea and the main goal of the game is simple, different companies and developers shape that simplistic idea of ``Last Man Standing`` into many ways.
I would say this genre is really competitive in itself. MOBA scene is being dominated by League of Legends and FPS scene by CS:GO and Overwatch , Battle Royale has a lot of competitors which try to improve their game in every patch and bring something new to the table.
Let's get into the mechanical aspects of these games.
Player Unknown's Battlegrounds was a huge hit to this genre, coming up with a more enhanced gameplay and putting a different style on the table, racing against H1Z1. It mechanically has more options and diverse tactics of survival but lacks graphical optimization which sometimes makes the game impossible to play.
There is one more game at the scene which made its debut with an expected uniqueness: Fortnite.
Fortnite gives you the opportunity to build and craft your way into defensive and offensive playstyles and makes you feel safer, lowering the chances of you encountering the situation of ``Hey, I have been shot and I don’t know where I am getting shot from`` unless the person shooting you is a really good player. You can react to this situation defensively by putting up walls around you to get yourself covered into safety, repositioning to see where the shot came from and act according to that. The game offers fast paced action like H1Z1 but less weapon customization with simpler loadouts.
In comparison, these games like many other Battle Royale games (I didn’t include many overlooked ones since at the moment the scene is dominantly occupied by H1Z1, PUBG and Fortnite ) offer different experiences to be appealing to the player base. I love playing H1Z1 with my younger brother, he is pretty good at it but I am not. I cannot get used to how fast paced it is early game and controls feel really weird to me but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it. PUBG games usually the ones that lasted the longest amongst my Battle Royale experiences. Forty minutes or more, looting with a squad, having fun, your courageous friend going for the supply crate, dying and blaming you for not coming, they are all memorable experiences. I playedH1Z1 the longest but when I started playing PUBG I figured out I was so much better in mid-long range fights than early, close range fights.
Diversity in these kind of games brings out your hidden skills and makes you observe your mistakes and strengths better. I would say I am above average when it comes to FPS games with a little bit of warming up session. If you are like me and don’t like going solo for you hate getting ambushed by camping players or get sniped you will probably love Fortnite (You have the option to build walls around you when you get shot instead of laying down and waiting for your demise.). If you think you are pretty good under pressure and trust your aim you will enjoy PUBG more. If you love that fast-paced blood-boiling action, go for H1Z1. The thing I like the most is once you get used to one of them and switch between games, you see a major improvement on your weaker sides.
Overall, this genre is probably my favorite for the memorable experiences that I get with my group of friends. The thrill, the joy, the feeling of triumph when you get that Chicken Dinner or Victory Royale. I hope we get to see more amazing stuff from the developers of these games in the future as this genre never was dissapointing and I am sure it will amaze us furthermore.
Thank you for reading fellow gamers. GLHF!
