I think one of the hardest things about college was leaving my two best friends. I thought being two hours away from home would be nothing, but it feels like forever away when it comes to not getting to see my best friends every day. Even though distance can be extremely tough on relationships, distance will never break the love I have for my two best friends. The distance sometimes threatens to creep in and ruin us, but I hold tight to the promises I have for my two best friends from home.

I promise to always be there for you.

It does not matter what time of the day it is, I will always be the person you can turn to. I might be too far to talk to you in person, but I would drop anything in a hurry if you needed me. It could be a break-up or a victory, but I will always listen.

I promise to tell you all the gossip.

We may be hours apart, but that does not stop us from sharing every single thing that goes on in our lives apart from each other. I want to know every detail of your life, and I know you want to hear every one of mine.

I promise to creep on all of your new friends.

Trust me when I say that nobody in this world can take your spot, and I’m sure you feel the same way. Just because I know that does not mean that I will not creep through every social media of the new person you just posted a picture with. It’s my job to make sure they are all worthy of your friendship.

I promise to visit as much as I can.

I know the distance is hard and I wish I could be with you every single day, but sadly, I can’t anymore. That does not mean I will not visit as much as I can. As soon as I leave you, I am counting down the days until I get to see you again. You know everything in my life, but still nothing compares to getting to hang out with you in person.

I promise that all of my college friends know about you.

If it wasn’t already obvious from the obsessive amount of pictures of us I have in my room, my friends here know who my best friends from home are. I could talk about you and our memories for endless hours because those moments are things I treasure and think about daily. I’m pretty sure my college friends feel like they already know you even though you haven’t met.

I promise to tell you everything first.

Trust me, you are still the first person I turn to for every big moment in my life. The wins, the losses, the break-ups, the victories, the heartache, the love, and everything in between are all things I am so eager to tell you about, even though you aren’t here to experience it with me. You know exactly what I need to hear in those moments, and I know your answer will be blunt and straight from the heart.

I promise to love you unconditionally.

I will always love you no matter what. You will meet new people, try new things, make mistakes, have fun without me, but nothing will ever change the bond that we share. Life happens, but I will always be here to love you.

I promise you will always hold a special place in my heart.

Who knows where life will take us, but there is one thing I know for sure: you will always hold a special place in my heart. Not everyone is lucky enough to find someone that they can truly call a best friend, and I got blessed with two. You have been there for me through it all, and I can never thank you enough.
