“ Forgetting to grieve is like forgetting to put the lens in focus for a picture.”

Here is another excerpt or two from my book I have been working on for over a year and a half. Let me know what you think.

They had dated for 6 years, had their ups and downs, done some pretty amazing stuff and went all over the world together. He surprised her with trips to St. Lucia, random trips to her favorite restaurants, and even sent cute little texts to her through out the day. One note said “ No matter where we go in life, no matter what we become, no matter what state we’re in I will always be there for you.” Colton was always the one to go to for Keegan. When they had a fight it was always worked out. They were like an old married couple that never knew why exactly they fought. Colton was something else. He always knew the exact words to say when they were fighting. Their fights always ranged from what was for dinner, where they wanted to go out to eat and about their jobs. Colton was an entrepreneur and his job allowed him to have his own hours and work when he wanted. Sometimes though, he would have to work when Keegan did not want him too. She had a set job. She was a caregiver, since she was starting up being a vlogger/author. Until she could support herself in her own career, she had to do what she loved next, be a caregiver. Keegan and Colton rarely fought about the big things. They always fought about the smaller things. Most people thought they were genius because they never fought over the big things. Colton was Keegan’s Noah, and she was his Allie. Most couples fought about how, when and where. They fought about the now, what was happening then. What brought them together was her dad. Keegan’s dad wasn’t like any dad, he knew exactly the type of guy his daughter liked and found him. Colton was exactly what Keegan needed. When you find your soulmate it’s easier to be yourself. “When I first met you, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I knew in the long run it would pay off.” Life with you makes perfect, he would say.

Brendan’s response was the typical Brendan response. “ Remember that time your dad took you to the race track, and let you drive the fastest car there and you were scared that you would never see him again if you crashed?” Of course she remembered that moment, it was always etched in the back of her mind. But why was he telling her this right now, she needed to know where her dad was and if he could come get her out. “ The fast car always scared you, most of the time you hated him for even saying you could drive it. You always got in, told him you loved him, fist bumped and prayed a little prayer. You always prayed to God that He would never let your dad leave your side, that if God decided to take you before him, that you would need to be by his side through out life. If you always stayed side by side, the world could be conquered and it was a good day. So just remember that, because even though your dad is no longer physically here, he will always be by your side. God will send Him to you when you least expect it, when you need him the most, and he will be by your side through it all. “ Brendan always knew how to make Keegan feel better. He always knew what to say. Even at the wrong times, he knew exactly what she needed to hear. Brendan was the type of person who took care of Keegan, he knew her better than she knew herself. He was her best friend, after all. After he had finished giving her his wisdom, she started crying. Luckily, he knew the cure for tears. He rented her favorite movies, got her favorite food, and stayed in the hospital with her until she was released. Brendan was the type to never leave a best friend in the floor of a broken time. Brendan was the colorized, filtered, sized to perfection and always spot on picture kind of friend. He didn’t need to ask for anything, he didn’t need to promise anything, he didn’t need to remind people of anything, he was himself and he could do anything he wanted. Brendan was the piece of the picture that always stood out for Keegan. He helped her, and that was the best she could ever ask for. “ Forgetting to grieve is like forgetting to put the lens in focus for a picture.”

* I started writing this book after I saw Furious 7, and realized everyone was grieving a loss still that I am still grieving. I did not know Paul Walker, but he taught me some valuable lessons before his death, and after his death. I still continue to learn from when I lose someone close to me. God uses these people, these situations and the lessons to teach us how strong we are, how capable of love we are and that we should spread kindness to everyone we meet. I am not done with this book yet, but I am learning everyday things that I never knew were possible. I hope somehow this resonates with you in some way. *

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
