We all grew up in a generation where faith, trust, pixie dust, and a mouse named Mickey proved to us that dreams can and do come true. Little did we know that by watching these iconic movies unfold right before our eyes, that we were learning life lessons that we could reflect upon when we were older. Disney is still and will always remain relevant in our lives, and here are some quotes that reflect upon that:
1. "Sometimes the right path is not the easiest one" - Grandmother Willow, Pocahontas
We can all relate to a time where doing what was right, was not easy. You were faced with an easy way out. which was the wrong path to take, but deep down in your heart you knew to choose the right path no matter the difficulty.
2. "Oh yes, the past can hurt. But from the way I see it, you can either run from it, or . . . learn from it" - Rafiki, The Lion King
Probably one of the best quotes Disney has ever created. We can all relate to times where our past comes back up to haunt us in the present, and we are faced with two choices: to run or to gain knowledge. Running from your problems will never benefit you, but learning from your problems or your mistakes makes you wise. You learn about what you should and shouldn't do.
3. "Venture outside your comfort zone. The rewards are worth it." - Rapunzel, Tangled
If you have a tendency to stick to your normal routine, please take a chance and break that routine. There is an entire world out there for you to discover. You won't be able to notice the benefits of the rest of the world with blinders on. Open up your eyes to new ideas and experiences, take a chance.
4. "You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." - Winnie the Pooh, Pooh's Most Grand Adventure
You are so much more than how you appear to yourself. You only notice the 'everyday you', but deep down inside of you there is another you, a greater you that is waiting to come out. Let the inner you shine. Don't let anyone else ever tell you who you are.
5. "Just because it's what's done, doesn't mean it's what should be done." - Cinderella, Cinderella
You never have to settle for mediocre. You also never have to settle for anything that you do not believe is right. If you don't like what you see, do something about it. You have the power to change the world, seize that opportunity.
6. “The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” – The Emperor, Mulan
You have to go through difficult times to grow as a person and to become strong. You may be delicate like a flower, but once you are in full bloom you are a force to be reckoned with.
7. “I am on my way. I can go the distance! I don’t care how far. Somehow I’ll be strong I know. Every mile will be worth my while. I would go most anywhere to find where I belong.” – Hercules, Hercules
This is my personal all time favorite Disney quote that has guided me along throughout life. Don't get discouraged when you face problems throughout life, because you can go the distance! You can succeed! Every step you take will be worth it, every mile will be worth your while. Never stop chasing your dreams to find out where you belong.
8. “Some people are worth melting for.” – Olaf, Frozen
Personal sacrifice defines love: love for someone, love for something in your life, or love for a passion you have. True love for something or someone allows you to open up in ways you have never before to fully love someone, which is the greatest sacrifice we can give.
9. "The only thing predictable about life is its unpredictability." - Remy, Ratatouille
This is the beauty of life. No one in this world can fully predict life, especially yours. You control your own fate and only you can plan it out. When life throws you curve balls, be patience and hit that ball. Take unpredictability and run with it,
10. "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." - Walt Disney
From the man himself, you must have courage and passion to pursue your dreams. Those who are dedicated, take chances, and don't give up when they fail are the ones whose dreams come true. Walt Disney failed numerous times before becoming a major world wide success, and it was due to his drive and courage. Take this lesson from him.
To conclude: Disney movies are and will always remain relevant in your life. Don't turn your back to the lessons you grew up with, instead embrace them. Who knows you could change the world too, just maybe not by starting off with a mouse.
