Disney has been a long time partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which was founded in 1980 with the hopes to make the dreams of children with life-threatening medical conditions come true. Many children's wish stories are about meeting a famous role model, having their dream job, traveling or even giving back to others. Disney has always been about making dreams come true, so there is no better partner charity for them. Recently, Disney announced that as part of their Disneyland 60th Anniversary Celebration, they would give fans a fun opportunity to help them donate to Make-A-Wish. The announcement about the #ShareYourEars campaign outlined the simple rules: Post a picture wearing Mickey ears and Disney Parks will donate $5.
The #ShareYourEars campaign runs until March 14, 2016. Disney Parks will be donating up to $1 million to Make-A-Wish, and likely won't have trouble reaching that goal. You can use #ShareYourEars with photos on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for it to qualify as a $5 donation. Facebook also has a new profile picture filter, as seen below.
It's such an easy thing to do and the $5 is going to go to help a child with a life-threatening illness find true happiness through their wish. Plus, you aren't even the one footing the bill for that $5! It isn't specified in the campaign guidelines whether or not there is a limit of how many pictures an individual can post, so why not have fun with all your Mickey ear pictures?
You can enter the Share Your Ears Sweepstakes to win a special pair of Disneyland 60 Mickey ears adorned with white gold, Swarovski crystals and Pave diamonds, modeled below by Neil Patrick Harris, by donating to Make-A-Wish (donation options $10, $25 or $50). There are also a few other sweepstakes you can enter, but I'll let you discover the magic of those by clicking here.
And if you don't own any actual Mickey or Minnie ears, don't worry! You can get creative. Do you have a really old picture from that one time you went to Disney when you were three? Maybe you had ears on in that! If not, you can just use some round objects like CDs (maybe you have Disney princess films on DVD) or balloons. Whatever the case, Make-A-Wish is a wonderful cause to support and Disney knows just the way to do it. Join Disney Parks and the Make-A-Wish Foundation in helping children's dreams come true!
