Disney Classics Come To Life

Your favorite Disney movies are being brought to live action cinema.

Disney Classics Come To Life
Digital Times

Get ready, all you classic Disney movie fans, because even more of your favorite animated princess are about to come to life--real life. In March 2015, Disney released its long-anticipated, live action film of the classic princess "Cinderella" and it was a smash success. Disney also re-spun the story of Sleeping Beauty through the eyes of a misunderstood villain in "Maleficent." It looks like Hollywood took notice and has some fantastic magic in the works.

1. "Beauty and the Beast" (2017)

This one is no surprise and has been closely followed in the media since its conception, likely due to its leading lady, British beauty Emma Watson. It's produced by Disney and will (thank God) be a musical, just like the original! With a star studded cast (Ian McKellan! Emma Thompson! Ewan McGregor!) and a healthy dose of Disney magic, this film is sure to bring a great freshness to a tale as old as time.

2. "Alice Through the Looking Glass" (2016)

Burton's back and kookier than ever with this sequel to his 2010 remake of the Disney classic "Alice in Wonderland." Alice returns to Wonderland once again to save it, but this time from the Lord of Time. The whole cast is back: Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Mia Wasikowska as our heroine, and Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway as the Red and White Queens respectively. Just like the first one, everything is larger than life and upside down and backwards--just how Burton likes it.

3. "The Little Mermaid" (?)

Finally this movie has reached beyond rumors! There is a script by Richard Curtis ("Four Weddings and a Funeral"; "Trash")! There's a Little Mermaid played by the fantastic Chloe Grace Moretz! It's being produced by Universal! And that is all the information we have. It's still very much in the works, but if it's anything like the original story by Hans Christian Andersen, then we're in for a spooky princess remake.

4. "The Jungle Book" (2016)

The first "Jungle Book" was adorable, this new one looks downright incredible. Boasting a cast of famous voices, including Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, and Bill Murray, and a beloved Disney director (Jon Favreau), I personally could not be more excited to see one of my favorite childhood movies in live action. Check out the trailer and marvel at the scenery and the CGI. Can't wait to be immersed in this jungle in fabulous IMAX 3D (oooh! ahhhh!).

So call up your childhood friends and put some dates on the calendar to meet up and watch your favorite Disney classics become oh so real.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
