How Disney Channel Movies Gave Me Unreal Expectations

We all love our Disney Channel Original Movies, but they really weren't that great with comparison to real life.

Okay, let’s be honest. We all know you clicked on this just so you could see if it was another bashing of Cinderella or Snow White. Well sorry, but this one is aimed more at Disney Channel Movies than Disney Movies.

Let's just start out that with boys! In real life American high schools, there are no Zac Efron's, Luca Till’s, Ross Lynch's, Corbin Bleu's, Jonas Brothers, or Sprouse twins. I’m not talking about just looks here either I’m talking about how they for they treated girls! They were so nice and funny and not awkward ( for the most part) also, chivalry was not dead in Disney Channel movies! Not to mention that when they did inevitably screw it up, they always managed to make it better by serenade and an apologize. Also, I never got to go tour a new city with a famous boy who managed to avoid the paparazzi with some shades and a hat….

There was a lack of singing and choreographed dance when I was in high school. I think that was partly because my high school choir teacher didn't like show choir... But when my team was trying to get pumped for practice we never go to have a cool dance routine...we got to run.. in circles...that's about as synchronized as we got. Also when I was trying to make a super hard decision, I was not able to roam the halls and sing while dramatically leaning against the lockers. There were also no cool places where the “cool kids” sat. There was no ramp that a blessed “geek” was invited to because in my high school the “cool kids” were also the “geeks.”

Disney Channel Movies taught us a lot I will agree to that, like the fact the Lizzie Mcguire's animated alter ego was basically the first bitmoji. To not judge a book by its cover because the shy girl just might the biggest radio DJ in town. I mean really who would have thunk it huh?

Or that the perfect, popular girl is not really superficial and falls for the nerdy boy. But please get serious with me for a second, Disney ruined my idea of a relationship for a while. I thought that I was supposed to find my “one” *gag* in High School! I mean I know that they never directly mention it but it's very subtle with how the boy always gets the girl. It literally happens every time, don't believe me?

Let's see…

Troy and Gabriella - High School Musical

Christopher and Jessica - Star Struck

Josh and Dylan - Geek Charming

Gavin and Tara - Radio Rebel

The list goes on... but I think you get my point.

Yes!! I love my Disney Channel Movies like any other girl I just thought I would say what we have all been thinking for a while. I also would like to add I never go my own musical number... but it's fine...

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
