What Kind Of Roommate Do You Live With?

What Kind Of Roommate Do You Live With?

A big part of coming to college is adjusting to living with roommates. You always hear that you shouldn't live with your best friend or even someone you know because it may be detrimental to your friendship. In some cases it may end a relationship but in others it may strengthen it. Here are just a couple different types of roommates you may possibly live with.

1. The messy disrespectful roommate.

Chances are if you go to a four year college or university you will either experience this first hand or know someone who has. I can speak from experience. There's nothing worse then coming home from a day of work to a house, or in some cases a dorm, that is trashed. You can tell every meal this roommate ate through out the day because not only did they leave their dishes by the sink, but everything they used to make the meals are sitting on the counter. Like it's not bad enough that they leave their stuff out, they also think its a good idea to come in and out of your dorm all night, sometimes even baring friends.

How to deal with this roommate? Confront them. Chances are they won't listen to you or it will last the next two days. In which case you may have to confront them again, and again.... and again. Don't lose your sanity though, its only a year, though it may feel like a lifetime.

2. The emotionally unstable roommate.

You know those days where you and your roommates are all hanging out watching "Say Yes to the Dress" on TLC. This is the roommate who cries during every episode when the bride finds "the one". This is the same roommate that cries when you are all watching High School Musical because Troy and Gabriella are her #relationshipgoals. And then when it comes to the real life this roommate is the one who cries every five minutes because their "person of interest" didn't text them back.

How to deal with roommate? Stock up on tissues. She will need it. Also, if at all possible, avoid watching any wedding shows.

3. The roommate who can't handle their alcohol.

College is a great time to go out and get drinks with your friends. Don't get me wrong I have had a couple of nights where I got a little out of control, but it's not every time I drink. Every time this roommate consumes alcohol, even just a single sip, all hell breaks loose. Suddenly she misses her ex from two years ago, with whom she has not talked to since they broke up. Now she's crying uncontrollably and decides to numb the pain with one--or five--more shots. You leave her for five minutes to go the bathroom and when you come back and now she's dancing on the counter. Knowing it's going to be a long night for the both of you, it's time to go home. A successful night would be getting home without her throwing up in your car, but thats a rare occurrence.

How to deal with this roommate? If you know she is going to be drinking take her phone away. This will avoid any communication with that ex from two years ago. Most importantly--if at all possible-- keep her from drinking at all. This will solve 99% of your problems with this type of roommate.

4. The roommate who lives with their boyfriend.

Whether it's at his place or yours they are inseparable. It is nice when she stays at his place, but you can't help but miss her after a weeks absence. If it's a week at your place forget about it. Not only does this restrain you from walking around the house in your granny panties but now your food vanishes three times faster then before. Not to mention he rarely cleans up after himself so it's not hard to tell what meal they had.

How to deal with this roommate? Just hope and pray that they break up.

There are so many different types of people you can live with. You never truly know someone until you live with them. My advice to all of you, buckle up and enjoy the ride because it sure is going to be a bumpy one.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
