Whether you're a Starbucks junkie, local coffeehouse snob or just a college student with a Keurig, we're all just trying to find that balance of the perfect amount of coffee to run on. If you're a regular coffee consumer, chances are you've been through each of the following stages:
Stage 1: Headache
This is when you've had caffeine in your system past your energy threshold. The scientific name for this stage is withdrawal, because let's face it you're addicted. Whether you just woke up after a long night or you're trying to "cut back" your body is screaming internally because you don't have your fix.

Stage 2: Half Asleep
Alright so you've had your first mug of the day but your body is so conditioned that this does about nothing except relieve you from your headache. Your tolerance is kind of ridiculous actually because at the bottom of your mug all you find are coffee grinds, heavy eyelids and a series of long yawns.

Stage 3: Functioning
Finally two or three cups in you're groggy but the gears are moving. Paired with your your morning grind playlist, you might just be able to make it through the day--or at least until your next coffee break.

Stage 4: The Grind Prime
This is the optimal place to be. This is the small range of moderation that we all dream of living in. Here you are sharp, focused, and on top of the world. This stage is what inspired all that "I can do anything with coffee" merchandise.

Stage 5: Overactivity
This is just a slight overdose. Maybe you were sipping too casually or you overestimated your consume vs. metabolize rate but it's a little unnerving. You keep finding yourself having to go to the bathroom, you're restless, and keep having to tell yourself to relax your muscles.

Stage 6: Jitters, Irritable Bowels, and (you guessed it) ANOTHER HEADACHE
Coffee is so freaking ironic.
