The Different Types Of People In My Life

Life is only as good as the people in it. Choose who you spend your time with wisely.

The Different Types Of People In My Life
Bryson Keel

I have always considered myself a "people person." As an extrovert, I gain my energy by feeding off of other people's energy. The people surrounding me are what make my life so great.

As I have gotten older, I have discovered that there are many different types of people in your life for many different reasons. I have my friends that I've known forever and that will never change. These are the type of people that are there for me whenever I need them with no questions asked. The type of friendships that can pick up where they last left off without any issues.

College has really expanded the number of people I'm exposed to on a daily basis. There are my class friends that will always just be my class friends. I talk and laugh with them during every lecture and even FaceTime each other to discuss the homework assignments and exam reviews. When the semester is over, we probably won't ever speak again, but that's okay. They were still put in my life for a reason.

I'm involved with Dance Marathon at UF as a member of the Merchandise team. The people that make up that team started off as strangers but have grown to be some of my closest friends. Their passion and dedication to the cause is inspiring and they make me better. Those are the type of people that will stay in my life for years to come.

Family is family and that will never change. My parents, grandparents, cousins and more all have shaped me into the person I am today and I am so thankful to have their wisdom to help me along the way. They are the people I call in emergencies, times of crisis, etc.

Life can be pretty crazy sometimes and it is impossible to go through it alone. Having people to lean on and to pick you up when you're down is so important. Don't take the important people in your life for granted. Make sure to take the time to tell them how much they mean to you and to tell them thank you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
