College students are busy, free-thinking, and driven people who want to earn their degrees and follow their dreams. However, we can be unmotivated because of difficult tasks we deal with everyday, such as waking up for 8am classes, writing a seven-page essay, or even deciding to wear jeans or sweatpants. We also tend to one thing, but mean another. Here are 15 things we say but actually mean:

1. "I'm going to get a head start on my essay!"

What They Actually Mean: I don't want to write a nine-page paper.

2. "I need to participate more in class."

What They Actually Mean: Please don't call on me.

3. "I'm going to bed early."

What They Actually Mean: I'm up at 3 o'clock in the morning, scrolling through Pinterest, writing my English, and eating Wheat Thins with Nutella aT the same time.

4. "I need to get in shape!"

What They Actually Mean: Screw it! I'm ordering Chinese food!

5. "What percentage is worth my final exam?"

What They Actually Mean: I am asking because I do not want to study for it and don't want to fail at the same time.

6. "I need to do my laundry!"

What They Actually Mean: I haven't washed this shirt in three days and it still doesn't smell bad!

7. "Time to find a job!"

What They Actually Mean: Does the ability to binge-watch one season count as a talent worth being paid for?

8. "I'm too busy to go out tonight."

What They Actually Mean: I have a lot of Netflix to watch.

9. "I worked so hard on that."

What They Actually Mean: I did it a little earlier than the last minute.

10. "This semester went by so fast!"

What They Actually Mean: Help, how do I change a C to an A in one week?

11. "I'm dying."

What They Actually Mean: I just have a cold, but I really don't want to go to class.

12. "I'm going to dress nice!"

What They Actually Mean: I'm wearing sweatpants, nobody will judge.

13. "I'll finish this assignment in an hour!"

What They Actually Mean: I'll do it tomorrow.

14. "I got this!"

What They Actually Mean: Crap! What the heck am I supposed to do now?

15. "College is freedom!"

What They Actually Mean:How did I forget responsibilities, such as keeping your grades up, paying the bills, cleaning my room, and doing the laundry?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
