Did You Write New Year Resolutions?

They get harder to write as you get older.

When I was growing up New Year Resolutions were easy. My family and I would each get a sticky note that we'd right them down on.

They usually consisted of helping more with the chores around the house, being nicer to siblings, do well in school, and save money. Those were my resolutions for probably a good six or seven years. Then for a few years I didn't make any and just let what happened, happen.

Now that I'm older, I realize how hard New Year Resolutions can be to make. Of course, you probably have things that you want to accomplish throughout the year, but you want to write down the ones that you know are within reach.

This year I had a lot of things that I knew I wanted to try to accomplish, but I knew many of them may not be that easy to do this year. After many long hours and days of thinking about what my resolutions should be for this year, I was able to come up with a short list that I knew were obtainable.

Most of them obtained to myself, my future career, my relationship, and new things that I wanted to do this year.

This year was actually the hardest time I ever had coming up with New Year Resolutions. I didn't think fully what I wanted to accomplish this year, since most of the time I just went with the flow, but after a few days of thinking about it, I finally came up with a good list that I think is obtainable, and that I hope to accomplish this new year.

I figured that this should be my year to do all the things I have been waiting to, and I hope these New Year Resolutions help me stick to my new goals.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
