No, the dead will not be walking the hallowed grounds of our campus this Halloween, but we are in for an interesting experience. Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of The Dead, is a common Mexican holiday. This year, this unique day of reverence and celebration falls on Halloween, and the Hispanic American Student Association is sponsoring a fair in the Walker-Adams mall.

Traditional displays that honor dead relatives, called ofrendas (sugar skull altars), will be on display along with carnival style games! The Walker-Adams mall will be packed with so much culture and fun, you could almost miss the giant ferris wheel that will also be part of the attractions. Eating delicious Mexican food while listening to traditional mariachi music will instill a sense of community and showcase the Hispanic community here at the University of Oklahoma.
