What inspires you?
At first glance, it is a simple question but upon further inspection; I find that It is quite possibly one of the hardest questions -among "What is the meaning of life?" and "What food am I in the mood for?"- that I've ever had to answer.
Of course, good music, charity, aesthetically pleasing things, family and, success are a few obviously inspiring things. But, those examples are not the limit to what can inspire. I believe that Inspiration comes from the inside, it comes from soul and heart, from determination and willpower.
It can be one of the hardest things to locate within yourself. Anyone can have drive and direction but it's more than just skin deep. There is something that makes us get up in the morning, something that makes some go to work and others to study hard in school. The answer to that question is desire. The most incredibly powerful thing that that determines inspiration is desire, It is the Desire to be able to eat and pay bills that Inspires someone to go to work and the desire to graduate with a degree that inspires someone to study.
I get up in the morning with the desire to have a productive day and my desire is translated into the inspiration to create something new (this article is a prime example!) I am inspired to clean and to make my space clear because I desire serenity in my environment. I get inspiration from the desire to better myself and I gain my desire from aesthetically pleasing situations and advice. In order to answer the question properly, you need to be in touch with your desires and out of those what is the most important and what makes living comfortable and enjoyable.
Inspiration can come from the most basic needs of life. Maslow's Hierarchy of needs states that at our core, humans need food, water, warmth, and rest. Everything outside of that is a want. As humans, we have an uncontrollable need for these things, and we become inspired to seek after them.
After the basic necessities, safety and love are sought after and the desire for both promotes the inspiration to have relationships with family and friends (and to also have locked doors amirite?). On up the pyramid esteem and self-actualization fall into place and now it is very easy to have that self-actualization because I have just explained to you why you now know the choices that you make are all out of desire and the inspiration to act upon that desire. That leads us to where we are now, You are reading an article wrote by a college student who is telling you that literally everything -and boy do I mean everything- inspires you.
