So, this just in, it is the season of primaries for both the Republicans and Democrats, yet my News Feed is constantly filled with ridiculous things that Republican candidates like Donald Trump are saying with ignorance, rather than what I actually care about: the Democratic candidates.
Now, in a perfect world, I could vote as an independent in the presidential election for a candidate that I actually agree wholeheartedly with, but this is not a perfect system, this is a country where we stick pretty strongly to a two-party system.
Regardless of whether you are team Hillary or team Bernie, it is important to pay attention to everything going on and what other people or groups are endorsing or saying about the candidates so here is a list of some of the latest headlines regarding the Democratic primaries.
1. Hillary Clinton won the Iowa primaries.
This was a very close call between her and candidate Bernie Sanders.
2. Bernie Sanders won the New Hampshire primaries.
By a lot more than Hillary won the Iowa primaries.
3. Martin O'Malley dropped out of the race.
Unlike the Republican primaries, the Democratic primaries didn't have everyone and their mother putting their name in the goblet to fight it out for supremacy / the presidency ("Harry Potter" reference about "The Goblet of Fire," indulge me). Bernie and Hillary have pretty solidly been leading the small pack, and now it is just down to the two of them.
4. Senator John Lewis "isn't impressed by Bernie Sanders' activism".
Flip-side: Harry Belafonte endorsed Sanders.
5. There was a Democratic debate on February 11th between the only two candidates left: Sanders and Clinton.
I am sure that every politician is putting in their two cents on each of the candidates, but these are just the highlights from the past few days or so that I have seen.
Don't forget to check out the results here and to get pretty detailed results as they are coming in from different elections and primaries. That is at least the website I like to use!
