It’s that time of the year again where adorable girls block the entrance way of every grocery store around with their tables of cookies. Not just any cookies — Girl Scout cookies, arguably the best cookies to ever grace this great nation.
While this group of cookies stands far above the rest, there is definitely a ranking of Girl Scout cookies. You cannot compare the classic taste of Thin Mints or Tagalongs to Savannah Smiles. Each cookie has its pros, but only one can be the best.
Here is my ranking of girl scout cookies (which is 100% accurate and everyone should agree with it).
6. Trefoils
One word: basic.
If I showed up at the table of girl scout cookies and this was the only thing left, I’d be mad, but I’d still buy a box. They’re fairly plain cookies, and with a variety of other better options, I have no idea why you would ever pick this kind first.
That being said if this is your favorite cookie, I can(not) respect that.

4. Savannah Smiles
I can actually remember when they added these cookies to the line-up. I went through the Girl Scout phase and with that came my mom ordering a few short of a million boxes of girl scout cookies every year since these cookies were at such easy access. (We unfortunately no longer live this lifestyle and it’s as tragic as you would imagine it.) I begged my mom to order a box of these when they first came out. They were new, exciting and lemon-flavored which makes them different from every other cookie. They don’t live up to the standard that the top three girl scout cookies have set though.
I would not grab a box of these first. They’re like an afterthought. “Oh yeah, Savannah Smiles. Sure, I’ll buy a box.” What’s four more dollars to support a good cause? You can throw these in the freezer and they’ll be a nice surprise in a few weeks.
3. Tagalongs
I’m conflicted with putting these cookies in third place, but they just don’t stand up with the rest of the competition. These were my childhood favorite and I have distinct memories of my brother and I fighting over the last cookie in the box. But as I matured, so did my taste in cookies.
Tagalongs are the perfect combination of peanut butter and chocolate and will remain a classic. If Girl Scouts ever decided to discontinue these like they did All Abouts (RIP), there would be serious repercussions.
2. Samoas
My personal favorite. I will always pick Samoas over any other box of girl scout cookies. But yet, I could not rank them number one out of respect of other people’s slightly distorted opinions.
Where should I start with these cookies? I’m not sure if it’s the caramel or the coconut or the chocolate drizzle that attracts me to them. Probably a combination of all three. It’s slightly embarrassing about the amount of times I’ve eaten a whole box of these in one sitting.
1. Thin Mints
A timeless classic. I would compare Thin Mints to your best friend. They’re always there for you. I have never opened a box of Thin Mint cookies and been disappointed.
These cookies are usually immediately thrown in the freezer after they’re bought because while they’re good normally, nothing compares to a frozen Thin Mint cookie.
Girl Scout cookie season is one of the best times of the year. While some may find the girls standing outside of the various grocery stores, I look forward to the table filled with boxes of delicious cookies.
