Halloween only comes once a year, and as we all know, it's the one night where a girl can dress a little slutty without being shamed for it. Growing up, I would watch movies where college Halloween parties would always entail a girl walking around in next to nothing on her body. Their boobs were pushed up, their (asses) were hanging out, but hey...they looked like they were having fun. So I took this as an obvious sign. A trend that led Halloween to bring out that inner wild side in a girl and every year made me believe that I too could dress sexy and confident in college.
In High School, you're usually too cool to dress up...but in college that's a whole other story. I do believe that if my mother and father went to a college Halloween party, they'd have heart attacks at not only what I was wearing, but what other girls were wearing...so I have to step back and ask...what should I be this year? I mean...is it really that bad to dress sexy, or is it a slam against women. Should we stop focusing on what will get a guy to like us, and start focusing on just having fun in our kick ass costume?
Let's all get real for a second. We know that this Halloween will be ruled by the girls who think that Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad will be unique. Let me remind you that drunk Harley Quinn's running around with a baseball bat at a college party with alcohol is maybe not the smartest decision a female could make, so what about being something that's still fun and different?
Last year, as embarrassing as this is I'll admit...I was the infamous (sexy?) kitten and a school girl. But I mainly did it because I knew that it would be fun, flirty, and honestly both costumes were pretty cheap to come up with. All a girl has to do anymore is go into her closet, put on a bra and a robe, run to Walmart and grab a pair of $10 fairy wings, and BOOM...you're a Victoria's Secret Angel. It's so easy, anyone can do it.
So this year ladies, I encourage you to put down the cat ears and baseball bats. Go on Pinterest, find that amazing and unique costume, and work it. I think we can branch out and rock this Halloween 2016.
