We have finally reached the time of year that the air gets a tad chillier and drives us to cuddle up on the couch with some hot cocoa. The only problem that comes with this is that it isn’t always the ideal date night, especially when the last three have been spent doing the same exact thing. Plus, as cuffing season is at its prime, dates that wow you just as Santa’s gifts did when you were seven are always a must. Hopefully you and yours find these date nights to be exactly what you’re needing to spice up your Egg Nog.

1. Go Ice Skating!

Sure, the idea of falling down can be embarrassing, but getting to hold your sweetie’s hand as you carefully slide along that ice is priceless.

2. Go to your local Zoo for a light spectacle!

Lions, and tigers, and spruce trees, oh my!

3. Check out a Hockey Game!

The only thing better than skating on the ice is watching 12 guys push around a puck on it!

4. Decorate for the Holidays!

No matter which holiday you celebrate, sharing a little holiday spirit with each other is sure to draw you both closer!

5. Have a Holiday Movie Marathon!

Sure, you don’t always want to hang out on the couch, so instead build a blanket fort and string the leftover popcorn for decorations!

6. Volunteer at a local Soup Kitchen!

Sometimes giving back to your community can draw you both closer! Plus, you can make it a regular affair. Soup Kitchens are always looking for help!

7. Go sledding!

This can be a fun-filled day for all ages. Getting all bundled up to live up your childhood memories is sure to be a good time!

8. Attend a Holiday Theatre Show!

The Nutcracker ballet can be found in performance just about anywhere, but many local theatres also participate in holiday shows. Many often student discounts or take volunteer ushers in exchange of a free seat! You don’t necessarily have to pay full price for a good time.

9. Check out a local Christmas Parade!

You can support local business and can get some free candy out of it! Make sure to snag a pic of Santa while you’re at it!

10. Find some Ugly Christmas Sweaters at a Thrift Store and go get a picture with Santa!

What better way to ring in the holidays?

11. Create a holiday song parody and post it!

Maybe you’ll go viral!

12. Add some Spice to your Egg Nog and then try to decorate a Gingerbread House!

This will surely bring up some good laughs later!

13. Go on a Carriage Ride!

Every good holiday movie includes one, so add yours to make your night all sorts of romantic!

14. DIY some ornaments!

Whether they’re for your tree or your friends’, this is a great way to spend time together!

15. Play in the Snow!

Maybe you can make a fort or a snowman! Plus, there’s something so cute about how your nose turns pink in the cold!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
