Girls,

Whether you're in fifth grade and excited to move into middle school or you're a senior in high school counting down the days until you graduate... slow down, baby girl... you're going to miss the time you have with your friends now, even if there's only a few of them.

If you think of each task in life as an opportunity to be closer to your goal and be bigger and better than you already are... breathe, baby girl... take a second because you're going to miss where you are right now, even if it doesn't feel like it .

If you can't wait to get to high school and take off your silly braces and buy your first padded bra... don't rush, baby girl... you're gonna miss your metal mouth days and the time when you could wear a tank top without a bra at all.

If you think you're going to keep the same friends from high school with you in college and have the chance to see them all of the time... take a minute, baby girl... realistically you might get to see them one or two times a month between college and different work schedules.

Life hits you hard once you're done with high school and I would give anything to go back.

You're going to miss the pep rally's and your favorite teachers, you're going to miss all of the dances and activities you rarely went to.

You're going to miss Taco Tuesdays when your favorite lunch lady hooked it up with extra nachos for you and all your girls.

You say you hate high school when you're in it, that you can't wait to be done and in college... but it will hit you when you're sitting in alphabetical order next to the people you've known since first grade. When you're all dressed up in your caps and gowns looking around for your families and praying you don't trip in front of everyone.

Maybe you graduated a few years back and ever since it was about school and money and moving forward... never looking back.

Life hits you hard after high school, and while it's okay to want to grow up, breathe a little in between.

One day, you're going to miss middle school, your metal mouth, or that annoying girl in your science class.

Regardless of where you are in life right now, just breathe for a minute and appreciate where you are, because, one day you'll look back and wish you were there again.

Just be careful how fast you grow up.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
