Dear Senior Year,
Our official introduction is approaching fast. Just yesterday, I remember you being about 3 years (or an infinity) away. You were just a far away thought, someone I tried (and failed) to avoid meeting. I am both excited and hella anxious to meet you. You represent adulthood, my future, and the end of one chapter, with the promise of another one starting. Before our official meeting at the end of August, I would like to ask for a few favors.
First, don't leave as soon as the years before you did. Take your time when staying with me. I don't want our time together to fly by; I want us to enjoy each other's company.
Second, let's make the greatest memories. My friends and I can't wait for all the crazy things we will all do together: wear yoga pants to a frat party, trying new restaurants downtown, movie/wine nights, and meeting the next class of college students who will come after us (and helping them realize how amazing/wonderful our campus and university are). Please be good to us during this weird transitional time. Thanks in advance for all the memories and the stories we will tell for the rest of our lives.
Third, please be gentle. Your arrival means that the large Costco-sized tissue boxes will need to be purchased ASAP, because unfortunately, you and crying are a package deal. These tears are both happy and sad, but crying may become a regular thing. You will bring with you a lot of "lasts": last FRoG week, last formal recruitment, last spring break and last spring formal. We can only mentally prepare so much before the tears become a daily occurrence. So please be gentle on us!
Lastly, you bring out our nervous sides. Unfortunately, you represent the not so distant future and the great unknowns of life after college. I am super nervous for when you leave, so if you could help guide me towards what path I may want to take after walking across that graduation stage, I would be really appreciative.
Now, make sure to give a thanks to your friends freshman, sophomore, and junior years for me. They gave me some of the greatest memories I could have ever asked for. I know you and I are going to have so much fun together and we will make life-long memories. I will see you really soon.
XOXO,
A Super Stoked, Slightly Scared SENIOR!
