Dear Roommates/Froomies

While I was going through my senior year of high school, I barely thought about you. I was stressed out about college applications, my ACT score, scholarships and, well, graduating! But, then, once all of those things were slowly taken care of, I had a far scarier thought come into my head, "What if I get weirdos as roommates?" So, I started to get anxious. It's not like I was signing up to live with my best friends! I was signing up to live with three strangers, randos, possible crazies. Who wouldn't be nervous? We wouldn't be able to eat, study, cry, watch Netflix, dress up, do each other's hair, make fun of each other, share each other's food and clothes, or just lounge around together if we hated each other. So, I prayed. I prayed a lot. I prayed that I wouldn't end up with any weirdos. Guess what happened! I ended up with three weirdos -- and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I appreciate you in so many ways, so here are a bunch of things that I'm thankful for.

1. Thank you for curling my hair before I knew how to use a curling iron.

2. Thank you for walking with me to Herb's Place for "snack runs" when it is way to late to be snacking.

3. Thank you for understanding that sometimes I only communicate through noises;

4. Thank you for replying back with similar noises.

5. Thank you for telling me to stop procrastinating and to get my crap together.

6. Thank you for telling me when I absolutely need to change my outfit.

7. Thank you for making fun of me and not getting mad at me when I make fun of you back.

8. Thank you for not playing country music around me or to a volume where I can hear it.

9. Thank you for saying the most ridiculous things, because you know you can be honest with me.

10. Thank you for never complaining when I eat your food.

11. Thank you for making me laugh when I'm stressing out and whining.

12. Thank you for always commenting on my Instagram pictures.

13. Thank you for not getting mad at me when I overdue the decorating according to whatever holiday it is.

14. Thank you for loving "Gossip Girl" as much as I do.

15. Thank you for showering and not being gross.

16. Thank you for saying "bye" and "I love you" every time you leave the dorm.

17. Thank you for being just as awkward as I am. (relatively)

18. Thank you for being sassy, strong, independent women.

19. Most of all, thank you for the comfort, friendship, laughter, and relief you give my soul.

Something that they don't tell you when you're getting ready for college is that your roommates will make or break your freshman experience. You guys have overly exceeded my expectations. You were once my biggest worry, and now you're my biggest blessing. I love knowing that you'll be there for me at any time. You've seen me at my best and you've seen me at my worst -- literally.

We are all very different, but when we are all together, we make a great stew. Because of you, I know I can get through any twists, turns, and horrid exams that college may throw at me. You three are not my roommates, you are my family. No matter what direction our lives take us, I will always hold you dear to my heart. Who knew someone could feel so at home in a dorm that doesn't have a dishwasher or oven. I love you guys.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
