Dear Reflection

I just had some things I wanted to say to you.

Dear Reflection,

You are all I know when it comes to myself. I see you every day so I am pretty familiar with you, I must say. With that being said, here're a few things I wanted to let you know.

Sometimes, I'll approach you confidently only to be saddened at what I see. I come home to you after a long day of work. You are the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning. No matter what mirror I look in, you are always the one that looks back. Even though I always see you, I find myself not really appreciating you a lot.

So here's an apology. I'm sorry for calling you ugly. I'm sorry for criticizing you in everything you wear. I'm sorry you have to hear me talk about the girls who are way prettier than you. I'm sorry that when we come in contact with one another, it usually doesn't end on good terms. I'm sorry for pointing out your flaws rather than your strengths.

However, I also want to thank you. Thank you for not changing no matter what I say to you. Thank you for being a reminder that I am human and I am flawed, but that is okay. Thank you for not being afraid to not always look the best you could. Thank you for being comfortable enough in your own skin to have fun. Thank you for dancing endlessly to songs when you should be doing something productive. Thank you for the cheesy motivational talks.

There are also some things I want you to remember. Remember that you are fine just the way you are. You shouldn't feel like you have to change for anybody. Also remember that you are flawed and that is perfectly fine. You aren't expected to be perfect. You aren't expected to be anywhere near it. All you are expected to be is YOU. All you really need to be is the best version of yourself that you can be.

So as cheesy as it may sound, there's no one else I'd rather have looking back at me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
