Dear Little,
This upcoming week is going to be one of the most stressful ones of my life, and hopefully, one of the happiest of yours. Even though we've never met, please know that I already love you very much, and I hope that you feel the same way about me by the end of this week.
Growing up, I never had any siblings, and I always wanted a sister. Well, now I have 140 of them! Out of all of them, I'm probably closest with my Big, your GBig. To be honest, getting a Big was probably the thing I was most excited for when I joined Pi Phi. For most girls, Clue Week is "fun;" for me, it was torture. Don't get me wrong: I loved the clues and the presents. I just hated having to wait a whole week to meet her. (Fun fact about me: I'm incredibly impatient.) However, when reveal day finally came, I was ecstatic to be united with her and the rest of our family. (Your GBig wasn't very sneaky, so I knew it was her on day two. I'm not very sneaky either, so you'll probably know who I am sooner rather than later.)
Reveal day is definitely my favorite Pi Phi memory thus far. Through all of the ups and downs that inevitably occur during life, our family has supported me in every way. I'm used to being the "little" one, the one that always needs help, so taking on the "big" role will be quite a change for me. I can't promise that I'll be perfect, but I do promise to try my absolute best.
Although we've never spoken in person, I feel like once we meet, everything will fall into place. I have lots of bonding activities planned already so that we can get to know each other. I hope that I can become as close to you as I am to my own Big and that you learn to love our family as much as I already do. Beyond that, I promise to love you, to always listen, to comfort you when you're sad, to brighten your day with laughter, and to help you study for that tough exam that's worth 40 percent of your grade. While I want to be there and support you through everything, I understand that you'll need your space at times. If you ever want to be alone or work through something yourself, don't be afraid to tell me. I respect your privacy, and I won't take it personally if you don't want to talk about something. However, if you do need something, don't hesitate to ask; that's what I'm here for! You will never be a bother or a nuisance to me.
I can't wait to watch you grow and flourish during your time as a new member, and to watch you be initiated! Know that as long as you have me, and the rest of our family, you will always be supported and loved. Can't wait for you to meet me!
xoxo,
Big
