Dear Parents,
Thank you is a terrible way to open up this letter. Not because we're not thankful, but because those two words just do not do justice to how much you have all sacrificed for us. I look back at these years that I've spent away at college and I'm amazed at the patience, love, and care that you have continued to send. You've been understanding when we forgot to call you back. You've shown love when we've felt overwhelmed and called you late at night, crying, just needing to hear a familiar voice. You've shown how far you're willing to go in caring for us with your constant support, prayers, and continued encouragement throughout every season we've experienced during this time of growing up. You've sent care packages, text messages, letters, and more just to make sure that we knew even though we may be far away we are still loved and being thought of every single day.
Aside from all of those things, though, the thing we are most thankful for is your ability to watch us grow and learn from afar, while at the same time never seeming to leave our side. You've let us fall and fail, but you've been there each time to pick us up and help us try again. You raised us from the moment we entered into this world, and now you've let us out to try to figure life out for ourselves. Yet, you have never left or abandoned us. You've shown us the best possible form of earthly love we could've received, and for that, we are forever and eternally grateful and indebted to you.
You raised us to be the best possible versions of ourselves, and we've had the tremendous opportunity to learn from you all what those versions should look like. You've been our biggest supporters, best critics, and most important role models. Even though we are not known for being the greatest at showing it, we hope you know just how thankful we really all are for what you do for us and for the people that you are.
Try not to miss us too much. We'll be home soon for winter breaks, and then I promise, in no time, you'll be back to counting down the days until we go back.
Love,
Every College Student
