Dear Nursing Majors: A Letter From Your Peers

Dear Nursing Majors,

No this is not a letter from a fellow nursing major, but this is from your peers who are incredibly impressed by you. This letter won't make your school load any lighter, and I know you have little time for "extra" reading materials, but I hope you see that we are aware of your hard work and dedication!

Thank you all for doing the job that most of us could never fathom doing either because we can't deal with blood or because the load is simply too much. Not going to lie-- I've always wanted to be a pre-med major just for the sake of scrubs! Seriously, your scrubs are so cute! Your peers may never truly understand how hard your courses are, how truly difficult your schedules can be, or how hard you have to work, but we can see how much effort you put into everything! As we might not be able to have those same experiences, we understand that you are busy and your constant lack of sleep from studying doesn't help.

Most of us have learned not to complain to you about the amount of homework we have, or the time we don't have because your load most likely trumps ours. In all seriousness, the amount of study material you memorize is crazy! Not to mention the horror stories I've heard from my nursing major friends about professors constantly reminding them that if they don't learn or memorize something correctly, a patient could die under their watch. I don't know about anyone else but that scares me and I'm not even a pre-med major. We recognize that the pressure is on you to do well, take so many tests, and have such a high GPA, and the way you do so is incredible.

From your dear friends, we want you to know that we aren't upset with you when you can't hang out because you have to study, that is far more important than a movie night. We can take a raincheck! Not only that, but you must have a lot of willpower in order to say no to hanging out with your friends in order to keep studying! We can see your hard work from the whiteboards and glass walls in the study rooms that are covered in Expo markers with all sorts of material we don't understand, and we are very thankful that y'all understand it!

I know your time is valuable friends, so thank you for reading and I hope you close this page knowing that you are so appreciated for your hard work and dedication. Thank you for making mothers of college students less worried when leaving their children at school. I hope this letter encourages you to continue working hard because God has great plans for your life! Everyone is so proud of you and excited to walk with you on this journey! Your desire to help people is so incredible, and we know you will do great things!

Now, go love on your hard working friends and tell them how cute their scrubs are because y'all are awesome!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
