Dear Past Self,

How are you? Are you still stressing about how you are ever going to pass LS Latin 11 or Chemistry? Well, please don't stress so much because believe it or not, those classes are easy. You can stress when you get to college and you decide to challenge yourself by majoring in Math and realize what stressing actually is. I am writing to you as your future self to tell you how proud of you I am. You may not know it now, but in 5 years you are going to be a senior in college, majoring in Math, the president of 2 clubs, a student ambassador, on the senior class gift committee, and well known on campus. You will grow so much in these 5 years, but it won't be easy.

During these 5 years, you will experience both the good and bad. You are going to have plenty of sleepless nights studying math with your adviser. You are going to learn how to confront people and how to confront people well. You are going to think you found a group of friends multiple times, but it will take you until the end of your junior year until you find the group of friends that are your true friends. You are going to sometimes wish no one knew your name, but at the end of the day you will be more than thankful for that because it will help you make connections with awesome people. You are going to be put in situations that make you question your ethics and morals, but you will remember what was always instilled in you and do the right thing. You will get the experience to execute many large scale programs. You are going to learn how to fight for what you believe in.

During these 5 years, you will hold many jobs. You are going to work customer service, become a supplemental instructor, a peer tutor, an orientation leader, and a resident advisor. These jobs will teach you many valuable life lessons and you will make a great group of friends. During these 5 years, you are going to have some pretty great memories and some pretty bad ones too. Vin will propose to Gina and get married. You will travel to Florida to visit Alyssa. You will get in your first car accident. You will get cotton stuck in your ear and think you are going to go deaf. But all in all, you will have pretty fun memories.

But right now, those things are relevant to you. You are stressing about where you are going to go to college, how you are going to pass all your classes, and how you are going to get through your trimesters. So believe me when I say that you should just take a step back, breathe, and remember it will be okay. Yes at times it will not seem okay, but it will be. You have a great support system and you will get through it.

So I want to tell you how proud of you I am. I am proud of how far you came and how you haven't let anyone or anything stop you from accomplishing your dreams. I am very proud of how much you overcame and will overcome, still with a smile on your face. I hope that you know it isn't just me you have made proud, but it is everyone around you. So get ready for the time of your life. These next five years will be amazing and you don't want to miss it.

From,

Your Future Self

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
