Dear Future Husband,
For as long as I can remember, I've been praying for you.
I wanted you to know that I'm waiting for you, and I hope you will wait for me too. I know this wait will be worth every laugh we share and every heart filled prayer said together. Every tear stained pillow, bad breakup, or minute spent waiting for you to sweep me off of my feet will be worth it. I’m waiting for you now and I will continue waiting for you until the day that God chooses to cross our paths.
My greatest prayer for you hasn't been that you'll have blond hair, blue eyes and a perfect smile. My greatest prayer, however, is that you're already in love. I pray that you will love and honor this person to no end. I pray that you spend time with this person daily and really get to know them. I pray that you are already in love with The Lord. I pray that you are truly devoted to Him in every aspect of your life, fully trusting in Him and His plan.
I pray that your heart is open to the growth that is happening right now. God is preparing your heart for me, just like He is preparing mine for you. I hope Jesus is your dearest friend and that your love for Him is so incredibly evident to everyone you meet.
I pray that you dance. Of course, I want you to dance with me, owning every dance floor we step on, twirling me around and having the time of our lives. But more importantly, I want you to dance with The Lord, the one who hung the stars in the sky and The One who can calm a raging sea. Follow His every step, wherever He may want you to go. Lock eyes with Him and don't be distracted by this world. I pray you are attracted to me because you notice me dancing with the Lord, following His every move. Don't ask to cut in on the dance. Instead, you dance with the Lord right beside me.
I want you to remember that nice guys don't always finish last. I know you sit and watch non-Christian men time after time win the hearts of good girls, because we all know the saying “girls love bad boys”. However, nice guys don’t finish last. In a world that makes fun of guys for not conforming to it's own standards of being a “man”, how can nice guys finish first? In a world where even good Christian girls friend-zone the nice Christian guys, how can nice guys ever not finish last? You see, Jesus was the ultimate nice guy, even He was beaten, abandoned and ridiculed. Jesus was stabbed in the side and left hanging on the cross. Blood dripped from His brow as his life slipped away. Most people would think the story ended there. But, it doesn't. He left a tomb empty to sit with His father in eternity. This same story continues with me and you, lifting each other up to better glorify Him. Living our daily lives to spread His love.
I know that you're not perfect, so to take the pressure off, I want you to know that I've been praying for myself in the same ways too.
Finally, I pray that you will always love me, but always love God even more.
Always,
Your Future Wife
