Dear Earth...

An open letter to our planet

Dear Earth...

It has been long since we last saw each other, since we travelled or explored you. Some people have been home for more than a month now, others for a couple of weeks. We haven't been able to take a walk, to run , to hear the waves crashing the shore, to smell a scent of a flower, to see nature happy with all the flowers blooming and the trees full of them. We just go out for shopping and come back home right away, scared that that invisible enemy will attack us.

Dear Earth,

Now you're healing,

Now you're getting better,

Now you're finally breathing.

You wanted to stop us, all humans,to treat you badly. We needed this invisible enemy to stop destroying you, you actually made it, we FINALLY understood.

We have been deprived of going out, to live a normal life. We understood how the little normal things in life weren't so little, and weren't so normal and how many things we took for granted in reality were essential in our existence.

We're seeing oceans and rivers cleaner, dolphins and fish back to swim in the immense blue water, their own house, without all the plastic surrounding them. Since we're staying home we see pictures from the satellite of our planet and how the pollution in the atmosphere diminished. We see the great vastness of forests with green foliage, happier than ever, happier that a human didn't destroy that environment, that natural reserve, didn't destroy the oxygen for them and for us, didn't destroy a nest where birds and animals had their house.

The Earth is happier!

Even if we aren't able to be exploring you, right now, you never stop living, your flowers are continuing to bloom, the birds are singing. Even if we're home you have never abandoned us, in the early morning with your incredible dawns or in the evening with breathtaking sunsets that give us pure emotions every time we see them from a balcony or a window. Those colors make us forget our problems, and make us wonder how incredible the beauty of nature is. Every single sunset, even in the darkest day will show its greatness, a different perfect shade that makes you realize you're not alone.

Only now that we are far away we realize how much we miss you and how important your worth is in our life. Right now we're home but you feel better, you're great again.

We will go back soon to discover, and explore the world stronger than ever. We will be invading your territory once again, but this time enjoying a simple sunset, a flower, the noise of the waves crashing on the shore. This time we will come back and we will appreciate your work, and probably once and for all, we will take care of you, we will preserve , protect and respect you.

Probably you just wanted to remind us that we are only passengers, we are guests , not your masters. We have to keep our world safe and in good health for all of us, and for the future generations.

See you soon,

A world citizen.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
