Dear College Boy

The horrific truth about what goes through a college boy's mind.

Dear college boy,

You might wanna think about the next girl you play or the next girl(s) you talk to. We're done with your petty and small minded games. I know I can't speak for all girls here, but the girls who don't play games back; you need to stop being dumb. Yes, I know I'm not the only girl you talk to... Thanks to social media and your snap story. So yesterday when we were hanging out, when you said I was your everything, was I just your everything on a Monday?

Let's talk about some of the dumb stuff you do. #1 LYING. We are not stupid at all. Fun fact: when we ask you questions, we majority of the time already know the answers. #2 Why do you guys try to talk to multiple girls at once? Like yes. Alexa & I are suite mates... I know you were with her last night. Do not try to tell me you weren't, and then ask me to hang out with you. #3 You say "I don't believe in labels" but when you talk about your EX GF you said she was "crazy". #4 The little things are too much to ask for. "I'm sorry I wanted a glass of water". Like really is it that hard to get a glass, fill it with ice and water? #5 "bros before hoes" This makes absolutely no sense. If that was really the case, you wouldn't really be trying to talk to seven girls at once.

I'd like to talk about the things you should do, though! You should probably stop messing around with five girls at once for starters. Next thing you should do, delete all those tinder pick up lines you have saved on your phone. PS we hate them and you make us want to punch you. Please please stop lying to us. We know everything. Legit everything. If you ask Alexa to hang out one night and me the next? You probably won't hear from either of us again. We're girls, we talk about these things. And yes.. we talk a lot of crap on you too. Some basic things you can do to make our lives slightly easier would be; compliment us. Even if you didn't see us in class today, tell us we look good. If we ask you to have lunch with us, just eat lunch with us. It doesn't have to be every day but once in a while would be nice. We really love back rubs and movie nights! Which sounds like more fun; watching movies with a whole bunch of guys or watching a movie with a girl who might give you a backrub in return?

I would like to end this rant on a positive note! Thank you to all the not so nice boys, you give us something not to look for in the next boy. So the next time, I meet a guy and he disrespects his mother like you did... I'll thank ya for it. Or if he says "I can't eat lunch with you...It'll be weird." Thanks again.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
