Dear Boyfriend: Thank You
Trudy Collins

Dear boyfriend,

Where do I begin? There are thousands of things every day I should be thanking you for that I don't. God sent you to me after years of feeling uncertain, depressed and lonesome. During that time, He taught me to be patient. And boy, was it worth it. I wish I could thank you for each and every little thing, but that would be impossible because you are so good to me and for me. But here are the big thank-yous for the little things you do.

Thank you for loving me with no makeup on.

Thank you for loving me when I cry. If you know me, you know I'm an emotional person and most of the time I just can't seem to stop the tears.

Thank you for loving me when I've had a bad day and for doing everything in your power to make that day better.

Thank you for loving my laugh and for loving to make me laugh.

Thank you for buying me food, seriously, you rock.

Thank you for loving me even when I order four tacos.

Thank you for loving me when I make you watch chick flicks.

Thank you for loving me when I stress out.

Thank you for trying to help me figure things out and relieve some of my stress.

Thank you for playing in my hair.

Thank you for all the sweet little forehead kisses.

Thank you for scratching my back, even when it technically might be my turn to scratch yours.

Thank you for helping me make decisions, we all know I'm not very good at that.

Thank you for loving the two specialties that I cook, Ritz cracker chicken and buffalo chicken quesadillas.

Thank you for letting me dress our dog up in bows and take countless pictures so I could make her an Instagram. (PS everyone go follow @lillypuplitzer)

Thank you for always driving because I hate it.

Thank you for nailing Charlie Daniels lyrics inside my head... "Stroker ace was born to race."

Thank you for being selfless and kind.

Thank you for letting me decide which shirt you should wear so we can kind of match.

Thank you for always taking pictures with me.

Thank you for always wanting to show me off and for making me be confident in myself.

Thank you for always pushing me to be the best version of myself.

Thank you for loving my niece and nephew and for volunteering your Saturday so we can do things with them.

Thank you for loving me when I forget to shave my legs.

Thank you for loving me.

With all my love,
Your forever grateful girlfriend.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
