Dear Best Friend

I do not thank you enough.

Dear Best Friend

First off, I want to say thank you. Thank you for being you, and thank you for letting me be me. You have been there in the happiest of times, and the saddest of times, either as a shoulder to cry on or a partner in crime. You have been there for every moment, have seen me at my best and worst, and still remain. Thank you for making the world, and my world, a better place. You have changed my life for the better, and taught me to be an overall better person. Thank you for being the most beautiful person inside as you are on the outside. Your compassion, happiness, and love shines through and radiates. You do not realize the effect you have on everyone who has had the privilege to cross your path.

To all the stupid boys that have, and will, come into your life, they do not realize the person they have lost (or will lose). They do not deserve someone like you. "There have been many of you, but only one of me." You need to be there for her, push her to reach her goals, and recognize the beautiful girl she is. So basically, be me in man-form. Good luck with that one.

I can not express to you enough how much I appreciate you in my life. The texts before exams you know I am nervous for, pigging out and then immediately regretting eating our weight in food, helping me talk to/text boys because I suddenly become clueless, and our Friday/Saturday night shenanigans...then talking and laughing about it the next morning over breakfast. All of those memories are irreplaceable, and I would not (or could not) have picked someone better to have shared them with. We can be complete goofballs and idiots with each other, and I would not want it any other way. So thank you for being one of the few people I can remove my mask with.

Thank you for being completely honest with me when nobody else was. Whether that comes to the boys I was dating/talking to, my outfit when going out, or making a major decision, I know you choose what's best for me and tell me, because that is what you want. You always want what is best for me, and I do the same for you. I only want the best for you, because you deserve nothing short of that. That is what friendship, true friendship, is all about: pushing each other to be the best person they can truly be. Sometimes, as you and I both know, we do not like to hear the truth. Even though deep down we like to think we are right or our own decision is best, I think we know each other's best qualities, sometimes which is hard to see within ourselves. Going off that, thank you for taking the time out of your day to acknowledge my best qualities. Even though it is small, or just a little compliment here and there, means the world to me because it came from the most honest person I know. Thanks for your honesty, in good times or not, and looking out for me like an overprotective father but encouraging me like a sister.

You are so incredibly strong. Not many people know the difficulties you have endeavored, the problems you have faced, or every little puzzle in your past. I know them, and I am so proud of the person you are and are becoming. You are an inspiration and you don't know it (until now). So thank you for teaching me that when the going gets tough, you get tougher. The person who gets to know all those pieces is a very lucky person, because they have learned all about you. And that reason is purely it. They know you, the real you, and that is a blessing in itself.

"Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with." I couldn't agree with this statement more. Through every person, every boy, every issue, you have remained. So thank you for being my person. I love you endlessly, thank you.

Love,

Your Best Friend

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
