To My 2017 Self,
2016 had its ups, and it had its downs. 2017 is a brand new year with so much in store. It's time to leave the bad in 2016 and remind yourself of a few things every day as the fresh, new year starts.
To start, it's time to leave him in 2016. Please finally let go. So much good will come from leaving him in 2016. The only way to truly move on is to leave him behind. What good did he bring you in 2016 anyway?
Set your alarm earlier. Stop having to rush to class, leave that habit in 2016. Get up, get ready and still have a few minutes to spare once you sit down in a chair in class. You'll be thankful when you aren't out of breath from running.
And with setting an earlier alarm... PLEASE go to bed earlier. Netflix, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter... none of it is better than the precious beauty sleep you so desperately need
Please don't forget to go to the gym more often. You will feel so much better afterward. It will relieve your stress. You will feel healthier. Set some goals for the week on how many days you will go to the gym. Leave the unfit, breathing heavy while trying to walk to class self in 2016.
Always remember school comes first. The library is an amazing place. Spend that extra hour there everyday. Find a good quiet place to sit. Focus, focus, focus. Whatever it takes. Don't pull all nighters there, though.
Don't miss out on being there for your friends when they need you or seeing them if you haven't seen them in a few days. You'll miss them when you don't get to see them for a whole summer. Do fun things with them. Go on adventures. Eat too many dining hall meals with them no matter how gross. You only get so much time and so many dining hall meals with them.
Please start saving money. It's becoming more and more important. Work hard and remember to treat yourself sometimes, but don't spend money on pointless things. Target may be an amazing place, but please stop spending so much money there for no reason.
Last, but not least, remember to tell the people you love that you love them. Cherish your friends and your family. They are all such special people and they deserve to know much you appreciate them more often then you tell them.
Here's to a brand new year with so much promise!
Love,
Your 2016 Self
