Dear 2015,
You got the best of me for sure. You challenged me when I least expected it. You showed me that how things play out, are sometimes out my control. You tested me and my character, and I thank you for that.
You showed me a new world, beyond my adolescent room and the people I grew up knowing.
You brought me to college, willing, and enthusiastic. And I couldn’t have been more excited for a new beginning.
You gave me lasting friendships, and you also gave me one’s that ended.
You showed me love, and you showed me pain.
You built me stronger but you also brought me down.
You tested my ability to move forward and to carry on.
You reassured me that losing your way is OKAY and I know that now.
I won’t forget you 2015. Because if I did I would lose all you have taught me.
Thank you for showing me what love feels like.
Thank you for giving me opportunities.
Thank you for making me realize what’s important and what’s not.
Thank you for giving me confidence.
Thank you for showing me a life of sisterhood.
Thank you for teaching me that people take advantage.
Thank you for showing me that people change for the better and some for the worst.
And finally thank you for showing me reality.
We are shielded for so long on what’s to come and what to be ready for that sometimes it hits hard.
2015 you are still a mystery to me. You gave me some of the best moments but also some of worst.
But what I have to say is thank you. Because of you, I am more than ready for what 2016 has in store for me.
And you know what? I honestly can’t wait.
